Abstract

In the present work, a pollutants characterization in San Juan de Los Remedios Bay was realized. It were studied the main industries around this bay, its pollutants, its characteristics and its wastes treatment. Almost all industries release its wastes directly to the bay, without an adequate treatment. As result of the pollutants characterization process was concluded that the wastes contain a great variety of organic and chemical toxic substances that could affect the human health and the bay´s ecosystem. A Health Risk Assessment was realized considering the heavy metals as the most toxics  compounds  in the bay.
