Abstract

This  paper  was  focused on the study of the 5,m nylons (m  =  5; 7; 9), due to their potential application as  materials with active electrical  properties. The investigation has  been developed  in the  characterization and  synthesis  areas, centering our objective on the analysis of the properties of these polymers for their foreseeable implementation  in  the electronic sector.  As a result, the reason that  these polyamides are  procesable  by  fusion should be taken into account; they possess high thermal stability and can be obtained with high crystallinity by slow cooling of the melt.  The films of 5,7 and 5,9 nylons are operable  and possess acceptable mechanical characteristics, absorbing up 1,4 % of water when  exposed to  an  environment regulated to 23 ºC and 55 % of relative humidity.

Keywords: 5,m nylons, synthesis, characterization, properties.
