HUMEDAL SUBSUPERFICIAL VERTICAL PARA EL TRATAMIENTO DE AGUAS RESIDUALES: DISEÑO, CONSTRUCCIÓN Y EVALUACIÓN
Abstract
In this paper, first, there was the design of a vertical subsurface wetland placed post-treatment systems existing in the company to weld rails in Placetas, in order to achieve the reduction of pollutants that did not comply with the Cuba regulations to receipt. A characterization of wastewater effluent overflow tank according to Standard Methods and calculates the area needed to achieve the reduction of contaminants. Was considered the behavior of these systems as a first order kinetics for the removalof BOD and nitrogen, among others. We propose a vertical subsurface wetland with a surface area of approximately 20 m2 with 0,8 m high and as substrate red ferralitic soil that presents high iron and aluminum content, which favors the removal of phosphorus, planted with Typha dominguesis. We also carried out the construction of wetlands and evaluation of efficiency in the treatment of major pollutants, achieving an increase in dissolved oxygen and the reduction of suspended solids, COD, BOD and nitrogen below the maximum permissible Average by NC-27-1999.
Keywords: planted soil filter, subsurface wetlands, wastewater, depuration.
