Capraria biflora L. (slave), is a species investigated in the Pharmacy’s Department of Central University of Las Villas, Cuba. The quantification of phenols and flavonoids in the decoction, infusion and syrup of the plant has not been described. The objective of the research was to validate two spectrophotometric techniques for the quantification of phenols and flavonoids in extracts and syrup. The performance parameters were evaluated according to current regulations. The techniques were linear, precise, exact and sensitive. The content of phenols and flavonoids in the decoction was higher than the infusion, and in both extracts higher than the syrup. The results obtained for the syrup were similar to those described in the official standard in Cuba for other species and its quantification was novel. Spectrophotometric techniques allowed the quantification of phenols and flavonoids in these preparations, which constitutes a valuable tool for quality control.
