Research and Development for Introduction of the Ecological Fertilizer with Metallurgical Slag as Support
Abstract
The paper shows the main experiment result in laboratory (in pots) carried out in the National Institute of Fundamental Researches in Tropical Agriculture (INIFAT). In the experiment Sorgo (Sorghum Vulgaris) was planted in acid soil (pH= 6), treated with "Fertiles", which is blend between white slag and organic material. Basing on the results obtained, an experiment was carried out by planting "King Grass" on two fields of acid soil with pH from 4,5 to 5,0 belonging to the enterprise "Bacuranao Animal’s Husbandry", in Cotorro municipality (Havana). Preliminary, in the "Fertiles" treated soil the yield of green mass, depending on the specific condition of the treated soil, increased from 20 % to 40 % per hectare. In the paper the results of lixiviation analysis of the specimens of slag are described to know the toxicity level of heavy metals in the filtrate.Key words: slag, fertiles, soil, crops, king grass
