Evaluation by Means of Derivative UV-VIS Spectrophotometry of the Degradation 2-Chlorophenol
Abstract
This work aims to perform the using of derivative spectrophotometry to study the degradation of the 2-chlorophenol (2-CF), which is notoriously persistent and toxic for most of the biological systems to concentrations but high that 300 mg/L. In this study two microbial culture, RS 11 and RS 13, were isolatedfrom polluted soils and the ability of the isolates to remove phenol was tested by scanning the first derivated spectra with a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The results indicated that the isolates metabolized phenol and it was necessary the adaptation of the microorganisms to the organic compound to improve the speed of degradation of the compound for the isolated.
Key words: biodegradation, derivative UV spectrophotometry, 2-chlorophenol.
